Met with Casil Cooperative Gerente General in October 2009 about the coming harvest of 12 Apostoles. (See photo) Also learned and tasted a delicious "miel" , honey, they produce with the bee hives kept on the farms. They sell it to the local market and the coffee trees in the hive area seem to withstand fierce winds and heavy rains better. Did agree on terms for another lot their organic fair trade coffee. _______Peru, 12 Apostoles Co-op, this new micro cooperative formed as the access to credit and financing for farmers becomes a reality with the Fair Trade model. Having been organically farming for 40 years , the 12 founding growers decided their training and special attention to their coffee added to the cup. (Similiar to the Las Hermanas project) We at Cafe Moto have agreed. Currently we roast 12 Apostoles for a smooth, honeyed sweet, mellow pleasant varietal and wonderful compliment to our espresso blends for texture and aroma.
About the farm:
The coffee is grown at more than 1600 meters in the cool highlands of Northeastern, Peru, St Ignacio region surrounding the Tobacanos National Environmental Sancturary
